Review:

Yes there are a lot of semi gamer reviews floating about hating on this game because it did not meet their "me first" " right now" expectations. This is a sad truth to any game that comes out now. It is a generational thing clearly, but one that should be overlooked.
-First, this game is not pay to play. There is actually nothing in the game at all that gives you any advantage over others that you can get by spending money. Pretty much all the money items are cosmetic only, and that's that.
-There is NO monthly cost. You buy the game, you install the game, create your account and character and that's it. All done, hop on the grid and get to it.
-A lot of the complaints stem from the first couple of weeks and the server queues. Understand this, on the opening day, Amazon sold over 700k copies and had servers capped at 25k players each, with on-server caps at 2k, at least that is my understanding. That is an insane leap and makes it easy to see that Amazon could not have anticipated this. They quickly, at least as reasonably fast as they6 could, fixed this by bringing more servers on line. While this may not have stopped the cry, it was a valid solution to the issue. In the meantime, they said they would be offering server transfers, for free, to those who wished to join their friends on a server after the initial overpopulation problems subsided, and they have now implemented this. As far as I am concerned, issue solved.

-The game has had a few bugs here and there, but certainly nothing that makes it unplayable. The mechanics are simple, and the gameplay itself is reminisce of the old 60 player WoW. Miss them days. The quests keep you busy, and the leveling is smooth and challenging.
There is a skill tree that allows you to level multiple weapons and abilities, while concentrating your build on a couple in particular. This can always be reset for free up to level 20, or for gold afterwards. The Trade skills take a little more work to level up, but they pay for themselves in the end.

-The graphics are great. Though your GPU will determine what you are looking at. The character models and nps have great animation. And the overall feel of combat And questing is simple and satisfying.
-The combat system is pretty simple, this seems to have caused a rift in the community, with some seeing it as just to simple, while others like it. No need for 15 macros programed into your keyboard just to survive one encounter with a boss that drops gear that only 3 of the 20 people who went with you will get. lol if you know what I am talking about here. No, each fight goes rather quickly, and each enemy has their own pros and cons to fight. The instances require at least 3 people, and a group caps at 5. There are also wars, which are 10 people in several combat groups per battle. Lots of fun, but again, no complicated macros necessary.
-You will run a lot. Travel is probably one of a few things that everyone can agree is kind of lame. The developers have added a + bonus to your speed when you are running on roads, but other than that, you either use an in game currency called "azoth" to fast travel, or you just run there. Azoth is actually easy to gain, you get it from killing, mining, logging, harvesting etc... but you use it for many other things besides fast travel, and it is capped in game so you have to use it wisely until you gain more. No mounts at this time, and none in the foreseeable future. I would be happy if they just lifted the in game cap for azoth, but no news on this so far.
-Lastly, I would just like to say that I am satisfied with this game and its few quirks. It has had issues, but what people fail to realize is that this is not an xbox game, where they are serving millions of people with the exact same hardware. These developers have had to create something that could work on millions of combinations of PC hardware and software, and they did. Of course there are issues. Next, the game runs clean, is lots of fun, and it only costs the upfront purchase of the game itself, nothing more. That's great. Like all new releases, like every single game of this magnitude that has ever been released, it has bugs and flaws that show themselves and eventually get patched. Most of the people who are upset and scream the loudest are those who have no patience and have never actually been around for a new PC game release. So you have to keep this in mind. We now live in a very impatient "i want this my way right this very moment" world. Amazon kind of did that to themselves. But none the less, the game is great, and it is worth the time and effort and certainly the cost. I recommend it very much, and feel that most people will enjoy its simplistic and stylized gameplay, along with the story line and questing.
